BOOKS

THE QUESTIONS ARE BIGGER THAN ONE BOOK.

HOW TO MENSCH is conceived as a series.

Not because being human requires an instruction manual in several volumes. Quite the opposite. The closer you look, the harder it becomes to reduce a human being to a simple explanation.

So each book shifts the perspective.

Sometimes it is about what happens within us. Sometimes about what emerges between us. And eventually, about the systems in which we live together.

It begins where we can notice any of it at all.

With ourselves.

AT THE WHEEL.

Connection instead of self-optimisation.

Volume 1 of HOW TO MENSCH

Perhaps you know the feeling.

You know you don’t actually want to react this way – and yet you do. A sentence hits you. A certain tone of voice is enough. Something in you tightens, pulls away or shifts into defence before you have even understood what just happened.

Later, things often look different.

That’s when the better words come to us. We recognise what hit us. Perhaps we even understand why. Only in that particular moment, all of that knowledge somehow wasn’t available.

At the Wheel. is about precisely that gap.

Not about how to optimise yourself more effectively. Not about ten rules for a happier life. And not about some new version of yourself you still have to become.

It is about the question of how we can begin to notice what is happening inside us while it is happening.

Why we sometimes react when we meant to choose. Why old experiences can have a say in new situations. Why control is not the same as self-leadership. And why connection might begin where we stop constantly trying to fix ourselves.

The book does not try to take the wheel out of your hands.

It is interested in who is holding it right now.

AND THEN?

Starting with ourselves does not mean that everything ends there.

Because the moment one person encounters another, something new emerges. Two perceptions. Two stories. Two rather convincing versions of what just happened.

And people do not merely live alongside one another. They build families, schools, companies, institutions and societies – and eventually those systems begin to shape the very people who created them.

HOW TO MENSCH will therefore continue.

From I to We.
From We to the structures we live within.
And eventually back to the question of what we ourselves are creating within them.

One book at a time.
